WWII German Staff Personnel.

March 15, 1935, when the introduction of general military conscription was announced in the country, is considered by date of emergence of the new armed forces of Germany – the Wehrmacht. The size of the army was determined to be approximately 36 divisions, and the basis of the ground forces was the Land Army of the Reichswehr. Despite the restrictions imposed on Germany by the Treaty of Versailles, its personnel was distinguished by its high qualities. In the areas of training and special preparation of troops, this army was significantly superior to its former opponents. Very high demands were placed on the officer corps of the Wehrmacht. The corps was a corporate closed organization with its own ideas about officer honor and moral guidelines, which were very strictly followed. Many officers were former officers of the Kaiser’s army. A separate role in the Wehrmacht was played by staff officers who enjoyed special attention and played an important role in directing operations.

Personnel d'état-major allemand pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Le 15 mars 1935, date de l'annonce de la conscription militaire générale, marque l'émergence des nouvelles forces armées allemandes : la Wehrmacht. L'armée fut composée d'environ 36 divisions, et ses forces terrestres s'appuyaient sur l'Armée de terre de la Reichswehr. Malgré les restrictions imposées à l'Allemagne par le traité de Versailles, son personnel se distinguait par ses hautes qualités. En matière d'entraînement et de préparation des troupes, cette armée était nettement supérieure à ses anciens adversaires. Les exigences envers le corps des officiers de la Wehrmacht étaient très élevées. Ce corps était une organisation fermée, dotée de ses propres codes d'honneur et de déontologie, rigoureusement appliqués. Nombre d'officiers étaient d'anciens officiers de l'armée impériale. Les officiers d'état-major jouaient un rôle particulier au sein de la Wehrmacht : ils bénéficiaient d'une attention particulière et contribuaient de manière significative à la direction des opérations.
