Type G4 with MG 34 and German Staff Personnel.
The personnel of the Wehrmacht officer corps were distinguished by their high standards. At the beginning of World War II, it represented a unique, corporately closed organization with its own notions of officer honor and moral principles. Many of them were former officers of the Imperial German Army. Staff officers played a significant role in the Wehrmacht, enjoying special attention and fulfilling crucial roles in directing operations at all stages of the war. A diverse fleet of vehicles, including the versatile off-road four-door sedan G4 (W31), was used for the transportation of staff officers. Developed by Daimler-Benz in 1934, it was produced until 1939 in a version featuring a four-door convertible roof. This vehicle boasted an 8-cylinder engine with a power of 100 hp (later models had 110 hp) and accommodated six passengers. Some vehicles were equipped with MG 34 machine guns (one or two). They served the purpose of transporting the command staff of the Wehrmacht and were also employed for the protection and escort of staff columns.

Le corps des officiers de la Wehrmacht se distinguait par son exigence. Au début de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il représentait une organisation unique et très fermée, avec ses propres codes d'honneur et de morale. Nombre d'entre eux étaient d'anciens officiers de l'armée impériale allemande. Les officiers d'état-major jouaient un rôle prépondérant au sein de la Wehrmacht, bénéficiant d'une attention particulière et exerçant des fonctions cruciales dans la direction des opérations à toutes les étapes du conflit. Un parc de véhicules variés, dont la berline tout-terrain polyvalente quatre portes G4 (W31), était utilisé pour le transport des officiers d'état-major. Développée par Daimler-Benz en 1934, elle fut produite jusqu'en 1939 dans une version cabriolet quatre portes. Ce véhicule était doté d'un moteur 8 cylindres de 100 ch (110 ch sur les modèles ultérieurs) et pouvait accueillir six passagers. Certains exemplaires étaient équipés d'une ou deux mitrailleuses MG 34. Ils servaient au transport de l'état-major de la Wehrmacht et étaient également employés pour la protection et l'escorte des colonnes d'état-major.
