The CANT Z.1007 Alcione medium bomber, designed by Filippo Zappata, entered service in the late 1930s and was extensively used by the Regia Aeronautica during the Second World War. Characterized by a wooden structure, it featured the typical Italian three-engine configuration. More specifically, its three 1,000 hp Piaggio P.XI radial engines allowed the CANT Z.1007 to reach a maximum speed of 450 km/h. The aircraft could carry 1,200 kg of offensive payload housed in an internal bomb bay. The crew typically consisted of five men, which could increase to six with the addition of a photographic operator for reconnaissance and maritime patrol missions. It was mainly employed in the Mediterranean, Balkan, and North African theaters of operation and is often considered the best medium bomber of the Regia Aeronautica.

Le bombardier moyen CANT Z.1007 Alcione, conçu par Filippo Zappata, entra en service à la fin des années 1930 et fut largement utilisé par la Regia Aeronautica durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Caractérisé par une structure en bois, il présentait la configuration typique italienne à trois moteurs. Plus précisément, ses trois moteurs radiaux Piaggio P.XI de 1 000 ch permettaient au CANT Z.1007 d'atteindre une vitesse maximale de 450 km/h. L'appareil pouvait emporter 1 200 kg de charge utile offensive logée dans une soute à bombes interne. L'équipage était généralement composé de cinq hommes, pouvant être porté à six avec l'ajout d'un opérateur photographe pour les missions de reconnaissance et de patrouille maritime. Il fut principalement employé sur les théâtres d'opérations méditerranéen, balkanique et nord-africain et est souvent considéré comme le meilleur bombardier moyen de la Regia Aeronautica.
