In 1980, during the Geneva Motor Show, the German car manufacturer from Ingolstadt presented its new two-door coupé, the Audi Quattro. Produced throughout the 1980s, its Italian name highlights its main feature: four-wheel drive. At the time, four-wheel drive on a vehicle aimed at generating high sales figures was indeed an important innovation. The “Quattro” guaranteed good performance combined with excellent road holding on any type of surface. The longitudinal front engine was capable of delivering appreciable performance. A competition version was also created, which debuted in the World Rally Championship in 1981, achieving good results. The success of the “Quattro” continues to this day, so much so that the Italian name has become a true “brand” that identifies the entire latest range of Audi’s four-wheel-drive cars.

En 1980, lors du Salon de l'automobile de Genève, le constructeur automobile allemand d'Ingolstadt présentait son nouveau coupé deux portes, l'Audi Quattro. Produite tout au long des années 1980, son nom italien souligne sa principale caractéristique : la transmission intégrale. À l'époque, la transmission intégrale sur un véhicule destiné à générer des ventes importantes constituait une innovation majeure. La « Quattro » garantissait de bonnes performances et une excellente tenue de route sur tous types de surfaces. Son moteur avant longitudinal offrait des performances remarquables. Une version compétition fut également créée et fit ses débuts au Championnat du monde des rallyes en 1981, obtenant de bons résultats. Le succès de la « Quattro » perdure encore aujourd'hui, à tel point que son nom italien est devenu une véritable marque, identifiant toute la gamme des véhicules à quatre roues motrices d'Audi.
