The F2 and G versions of the Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.G were equipped with the long-barreled KwK 40 L/43 guns after combat with Soviet tanks showed the inferiority of the Wehrmacht's short-barreled tank guns
They were produced between March 1942 and June 1943 and featured a new mantlet and cradle. Further improvements during production included additional armor.
They saw service on all fronts.
