The Junkers Ju87 G-1 was an anti-tank aircraft designed to combat Soviet tanks.
It was equipped with two Flak 18 37 mm cannons under the main wing.
For the first time in 1942, the plan to use the Stuka to attack Soviet tanks was realized, and in December a prototype aircraft based on the Ju87d-1 with a cannon under the wing was built and tested.
The results of this test were very satisfactory and it was confirmed that a 37 mm cannon could disable a tank with a single shot by hitting the engine part at the rear of the tank.
Based on the fuselage of the D-5, the G-2 had a 37 mm cannon on the underside of both wings and the 20 mm cannons in the wings were removed.
The G-1 and G-2 were used mainly on the Eastern Front, where they proved very effective in attacking Soviet tank forces.

Le Junkers Ju 87 G-1 était un avion antichar conçu pour combattre les chars soviétiques.
Il était équipé de deux canons Flak 18 de 37 mm sous l'aile principale.
En 1942, le projet d'utiliser le Stuka contre les chars soviétiques fut mis en œuvre pour la première fois. En décembre, un prototype basé sur le Ju 87D-1, doté d'un canon sous l'aile, fut construit et testé.
Les résultats de cet essai furent très satisfaisants et il fut confirmé qu'un canon de 37 mm pouvait neutraliser un char d'un seul tir en touchant le moteur à l'arrière.
Dérivé du fuselage du D-5, le G-2 était équipé d'un canon de 37 mm sous chaque aile, les canons de 20 mm situés dans les ailes étant supprimés.
Les G-1 et G-2 furent principalement utilisés sur le front de l'Est, où ils se révélèrent très efficaces contre les forces blindées soviétiques.
