Battle of France, spring 1940.

Starting on May 10, 1940, Operation Gelb, Wehrmacht formations invaded the territory of Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg. The French commander-in-chief, General Gamelin, ordered the French army to engage in battle with units and subunits of the German troops. Fierce fighting unfolded, and the battle for France began.
Parts of the Wehrmacht advanced rapidly, which was largely facilitated by the high degree of motorization of the German armed forces. Tank units with the support of motorized infantry advanced in swift throws. Wedging into the battle formations of the French, the German army used the tactics of lightning war, also known as Blitzkrieg. Also, one of the components of the success of the Wehrmacht was a well-functioning radio, allowing units to successfully coordinate their combat operations.
Despite the resistance of the French army, the campaign, however, was completed in a short time, and on June 22, 1940, France capitulated.

Bataille de France, printemps 1940.

Débutée le 10 mai 1940 par l'opération Gelb, la Wehrmacht envahit les Pays-Bas, la Belgique et le Luxembourg. Le commandant en chef français, le général Gamelin, ordonne à l'armée française d'engager le combat contre les unités et sous-unités allemandes. De violents combats s'engagent et la bataille de France commence.

Des éléments de la Wehrmacht progressent rapidement, notamment grâce à la forte motorisation des forces armées allemandes. Les unités de chars, appuyées par l'infanterie motorisée, avancent par à-coups fulgurants. S'infiltrant dans les formations françaises, l'armée allemande utilise la tactique de la guerre éclair, également connue sous le nom de Blitzkrieg. Le succès de la Wehrmacht repose aussi en grande partie sur un système radio performant, permettant aux unités de coordonner efficacement leurs opérations.

Malgré la résistance de l'armée française, la campagne s'achève rapidement et, le 22 juin 1940, la France capitule.
