The T-28 was a super-heavy U.S. tank designed to withstand German 88 mm armor with its up to 300 mm thick armor and engage heavy German tanks with its 105 mm gun. It reached a top speed of 13 km/h. It had four tracked carriages, the outer ones of which could be detached for rail transport. Due to its high weight of over 86 tons and its extreme width of 4.39 meters, it proved impractical for transport and combat, so only two prototypes were built. One prototype was damaged in a fire and subsequently scrapped; the other can still be seen in the USA today.
