FCM 36.
French Light Tank in German Service.

After the defeat of France in the summer of 1940, a large number of French armored vehicles fell into the hands of the Wehrmacht. Many samples went to the winners in perfect condition. Later, the German army used them in various combat operations, and also used them as auxiliary and training equipment.

Among the captured samples were the FCM 36 tanks, which were previously part of two French tank battalions. Before the defeat of France, they managed to take part in several combat episodes in the spring and summer of 1940. The total number of these combat vehicles received by the Wehrmacht numbered about 50 copies. Later, many of them became the basis for the creation of self-propelled anti-tank guns and self-propelled howitzers.

Char léger français au service de l'Allemagne.

Après la défaite de la France à l'été 1940, un grand nombre de véhicules blindés français tombèrent aux mains de la Wehrmacht. De nombreux exemplaires furent récupérés par les vainqueurs en parfait état. Par la suite, l'armée allemande les utilisa dans diverses opérations de combat, ainsi que comme matériel auxiliaire ou pour l'entraînement.

Parmi les engins capturés figuraient des chars FCM 36, qui appartenaient auparavant à deux bataillons de chars français. Avant la défaite de la France, ils avaient pris part à plusieurs engagements au cours du printemps et de l'été 1940. La Wehrmacht récupéra au total une cinquantaine de ces véhicules de combat. Plus tard, bon nombre d'entre eux servirent de base à la création de canons antichars automoteurs et d'obusiers automoteurs.
