The USS The Sullivans DD-537 is a Fletcher class destroyer of the United States Navy, named in honor of the Sullivan Five brothers who served on the sunken Juno (CL-52) during the night battle on Guadalcanal Island in 1942. The ship started construction on October 10, 1942, was completed on April 4, 1943, and entered service on September 30 of the same year.
After entering service, USS The Sullivans was dispatched to the Pacific theater of operations and participated in intense combat. In late October 1944, the USS Sullivan participated in supporting the Allied landing on the island of Leyte in the Philippines. In March 1945, USS The Sullivans participated in the Battle of Okinawa, not only repelling countless attacks from Kamikaze special attack aircraft, but also assisting in rescuing crew members from damaged friendly ships. During World War II, USS The Sullivans acquired nine Battle Stars. After the end of World War II, USS The Sullivans returned to the United States in July 1945 and was incorporated into the reserve fleet in 1946 after major repairs.
In 1953,USS The Sullivans was re commissioned and modernized, and later participated in supporting the US Marine Corps landing in Lebanon in 1958. Participated in the United States Navy's blockade of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962.
USS The Sullivans was officially decommissioned in 1965 and was subsequently donated to the Buffalo Naval Park in New York as a commemorative ship. In 2018, due to improper maintenance, USS The Sullivans slowly leaked below the waterline, ultimately sinking inside the Naval Park in 2022.

Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l'USS The Sullivans a acquis neuf Battle Stars.
